OPEN BOOK オーナー田中が焼酎のためのグラスを考えました。
いつもより焼酎を丁寧に、時間をかけて味わえるようなグラスが欲しいという着想より、焼酎の味わいを最大限にすべく作られたグラスです。
試行錯誤の末、ウイスキーの蒸留機「ポッドスティル」にどこか似たフォルムのグラスを木村硝子さんに製造していただきました。
香りを閉じ込める窄んだ縁、穏やかな流れを生む曲線、和の食卓にもなじむ自然な脚の高さ、ゆっくり氷が溶ける丸みのある底——焼酎を静かに味わうための形がここにあります。

おすすめの飲み方
理想的なイメージは、アルコール10-18度くらいの冷やした前割りを注いで飲むスタイルです。冷えた状態から、
徐々に温度があがり、漂う香りの変化も味わえるような飲み方です。
もちろん、ロックでも。その場合は、氷は1つや2つにして、ゆっくり溶けていく時間を味わっていただけます。
ソーダ割りや水割りでも味わいを優しく変えてくれます。同じように氷や液体を多く入れすぎないようにしてみて
ください。

OPEN BOOK Original Shochu Glass

This glass was designed by OPEN BOOK owner, Kai Tanaka, specifically for enjoying shochu.
Born from the idea of having a glass that encourages you to savor shochu more slowly and mindfully, it was crafted to bring out the drink’s full depth of flavor.

After much trial and error, we worked with Kimura Glass to create a design reminiscent of a whisky still (pot still).
Its gently tapered rim captures the aroma, while the graceful curves guide a smooth flow of liquid.
The stem is set at a natural height that blends beautifully with a Japanese dining table, and the rounded base allows ice to melt slowly—every detail is shaped for quietly enjoying shochu.

Recommended Ways to Enjoy
The ideal style is to serve mae-wari (shochu pre-mixed with water) at around 10–18% alcohol, well chilled.
From the moment it is poured, you can enjoy the gradual rise in temperature and the evolving aroma.

It’s also perfect for shochu on the rocks—just one or two ice cubes are enough to let you savor the slow melt.
For soda or water mixes, the glass will gently round out the flavor—just avoid adding too much ice or liquid so the character of the shochu remains.
